Experience
I have dedicated my career to teaching and it is my passion! I enjoy working with students of all ages! I have my Masters in TESOL (Adelphi University, 1994) and Certification in Reading Recovery (from Lesley College, 2000). I have taught in the Public Schools Pre K – 12 and also in Adult Ed for over 25 years. I teach English and English as a Second Language, academics, reading/fluency, and writing. I have developed expertise in working with students who need extra support, including those who receive special education services, and those who are simply in need of developing new strategies to successfully acquire new knowledge. Experienced in assessing, evaluating, and differentiating instruction, I set clear and reasonable short and long-term goals to facilitate students’ sophisticated development in reading, writing and academics. I collaborate well, and upon request, am happy to work with other professionals to scaffold students' acquisition of new information. I live in an area that is diverse, and I am honored to work with visiting graduate students and scholars (and their families) who have come to the area to study and/or teach at the University and the Five College area. Reading Recovery Certification, 2000 Lesley University, Cambridge, MA
