Education

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor - BA, Classical Civilizations

Experience

I attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Classical Civilizations. I have accumulated teaching experience both teaching Latin at St. Norbert School and tutoring all ages of students (even post-grads) in writing, literature, and classical languages. My favorite subject is Latin, because I am able to help students see how to apply the language to their own lives. I also enjoy tutoring anything related to language in general. I am even inspired by grammar! The subjects I tutor include Latin, English (reading, writing, essays, and grammar), Literature, and test preparation for the ACT exam.My approach to teaching Latin is to use specific methods for developing successful reading skills. I teach students to read linearly without jumping around the text, and to analyze sentence structure for understanding. My strengths are my enduring patience as a teacher, and my willingness to adapt lessons to the individual's needs. I put the student's personal goals and learning style first, and work from there.I am an animal lover and like to be at home with my pet rabbit. I also take long bike rides and go to museums when I can, and enjoy reading modern literature.
