John G.
Private tutor in Amherst Center, MA
Education
I have a BS in Mathematics from Salem State University and a Masters degree in Statistics from UMass-Amherst. I also am currently getting my doctorate in Mathematics Education at UMass-Amherst.
Experience
I have tutored for approximately 6 years in all areas of mathematics. I also worked for Sylvan Learning Centers as their SAT instructor (both Verbal and Mathematics). I also have worked with the Salem Cyberspace afterschool program as a volunteer mathematics tutor. I am currently a state certified K-12 math instructor and the MTEL Mathematics Preparation Coordinator for Salem State University. Ihave taught undergraduate mathematics and statistics at Salem State University (current), Holyoke Community College (current) and the University of Massachusetts - Amherst (recent). I enjoy working with students from all walks of life helping them understand the concepts behind the notation. Once the notation is broken down, I feel every student can understand and do well in mathematics. With a BS in Math and a MS in Math/Statistics, I have taken a wide variety of mathematics courses. I graduated summa cum laude (3.8) and currently have a 4.0 average in my doctoral program. I also achieved a 790 on the Math GRE. Professional references available upon request.
